Web & App Developer

Insinet is seeking an experienced Group Web & App Development Manager to take ownership of the assessment, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Insignia Group’s digital assets.

The manager will act as the link between Group companies, management, and external technology suppliers. The successful candidate must understand web and mobile application development sufficiently well to evaluate technical proposals, challenge suppliers, control quality and costs, and ensure that projects are delivered correctly.

This is primarily a technical management and supplier-control position rather than a hands-on programming role.

Key Responsibilities:

Digital Asset Assessment

• Conduct a complete audit of the Group’s existing websites, mobile applications, web platforms, client portals, content-management systems, hosting arrangements, integrations, and other digital assets.

• Assess their technical quality, performance, security, usability, scalability, maintenance requirements, and ongoing costs.

• Identify outdated systems, technical risks, duplicated services, supplier dependencies, and areas requiring redevelopment.

• Establish and maintain a central register of all digital assets, suppliers, contracts, licences, domains, hosting services, code repositories, and responsible persons.

• Prepare a prioritised development and improvement plan for the Group’s digital portfolio.

Web and Application Development

• Collect requirements from Group management and relevant business departments.

• Translate business requirements into clear project briefs, functional specifications, technical requirements, budgets, timelines, and acceptance criteria.

• Recommend whether an asset should be maintained, upgraded, rebuilt, replaced, or discontinued.

• Coordinate the complete development process from initial concept and UX/UI design through development, testing, launch, and post-launch support.

• Ensure that new websites and applications meet the Group’s commercial, operational, technical, and brand requirements.

Supplier Selection and Commercial Management

• Identify, evaluate, and shortlist suitable web and application development companies, specialist contractors, and maintenance providers.

• Organise competitive tenders and obtain comparable technical and commercial proposals.

• Conduct supplier due diligence, including an assessment of experience, team capability, references, technical approach, security standards, financial stability, and ability to provide long-term support.

• Negotiate project structure, scope, architecture, deliverables, timelines, quality standards, warranty periods, service levels, payment terms, and pricing.

• Submit supplier recommendations to management for approval.

• Ensure that contracts protect the Group’s ownership of intellectual property, source code, designs, documentation, domains, data, and administrative access.

• Prevent excessive dependence on individual suppliers and avoid vendor lock-in.

Project and Quality Control

• Manage approved projects from appointment of the supplier through final delivery.

• Establish milestones, reporting procedures, budgets, responsibilities, and approval processes.

• Monitor supplier performance and ensure that work is delivered on time, within budget, and to the agreed standard.

• Review progress, identify delays or cost overruns, and take corrective action.

• Coordinate quality assurance, user-acceptance testing, security testing, performance testing, and device/browser compatibility testing.

• Reject incomplete or substandard work and ensure that defects are corrected before final acceptance.

• Validate supplier invoices against approved milestones and accepted deliverables.

Maintenance and Operational Continuity

• Establish a structured maintenance programme for all existing Group websites and applications.

• Arrange appropriate support agreements and service-level agreements with internal or external providers.

• Ensure regular software updates, security patches, backups, monitoring, performance optimisation, and licence renewals.

• Coordinate the resolution of technical incidents and ensure that recurring problems receive proper root-cause analysis.

• Maintain a schedule of planned improvements, technical upgrades, and preventive maintenance.

• Ensure that documentation, credentials, repositories, and administrative access remain under the Group’s control.

Security and Compliance

• Work with the Group’s compliance, legal, data-protection, and information-security functions.

• Ensure that suppliers follow applicable requirements relating to GDPR, cybersecurity, accessibility, data storage, and payment security.

• Confirm that security, privacy, and compliance requirements are included from the beginning of every project.

• Escalate significant technical, security, operational, or supplier risks to management.

Budgeting and Reporting

• Prepare project budgets and annual maintenance forecasts.

• Monitor approved expenditure and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency.

• Provide regular management reports covering project status, supplier performance, budgets, risks, incidents, and required decisions.

• Maintain complete project documentation and a transparent record of approvals and changes.

• At least five years of experience in digital project management, technical product management, software delivery, or web and mobile development management.

• Proven experience managing external development companies and technology suppliers.

• Strong understanding of the web and mobile application development lifecycle.

• Sufficient technical knowledge to assess system architecture, APIs, databases, CMS platforms, hosting, cloud services, code repositories, QA processes, and security requirements.

• Demonstrable experience preparing project specifications, evaluating proposals, negotiating budgets, and controlling delivery.

• Strong commercial judgement and supplier-negotiation skills.

• Experience managing several websites or applications simultaneously.

• Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong written and spoken English.

• Experience in financial services, luxury services, fintech, travel, or another regulated international environment would be an advantage.

• A previous software development or technical architecture background would be beneficial but is not mandatory.

Initial Priorities

During the first 90 days, the successful candidate will be expected to:

• Complete an audit and central register of the Group’s digital assets.

• Identify urgent technical, security, maintenance, and supplier risks.

• Review existing supplier contracts, costs, and performance.

• Present a prioritised 12-month development and maintenance roadmap.

• Recommend the appropriate supplier and project-control structure for Insignia Group.
