Commercial Director - VOL Magazine

The Commercial Director will lead and oversee all commercial and revenue-generating activities across VOL's print and digital platforms, the VOL Online Shop, and the L'Odyssee Membership & Card programme.

This strategic leadership role is responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth through advertising, strategic partnerships, luxury retail, and membership acquisition while strengthening the market position of VOL and L'Odyssee as flagship lifestyle brands within the Insignia ecosystem.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in luxury publishing, digital commerce, and premium membership programmes, with the ability to balance commercial performance, brand integrity, and creative excellence.

1. Advertising & Sponsorship Sales

• Develop and execute the global advertising sales strategy across VOL's print, digital, and social media platforms.

• Secure high-value advertising contracts and strategic brand partnerships with leading luxury brands across the fashion, travel, art, hospitality, automotive, jewellery, and lifestyle sectors.

• Build and maintain long-term relationships with premium clients, media agencies, and commercial partners.

• Develop compelling media kits, rate cards, sponsorship packages, and bespoke commercial proposals aligned with VOL's luxury positioning.

• Collaborate closely with editorial and creative teams to ensure advertising partnerships are seamlessly integrated into the publication's storytelling and brand experience.

2. Distribution & Circulation

• Oversee the global distribution strategy for VOL Magazine across luxury hotels, private clubs, premium lounges, boutiques, yachts, airlines, residences, and selected retail partners.

• Establish strategic distribution partnerships that enhance brand prestige and visibility among ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs), corporate executives, and luxury travellers.

• Monitor and analyse circulation, readership, engagement, and distribution performance to optimise reach and effectiveness.

• Develop co-branded distribution opportunities through exclusive events, luxury gifting initiatives, and strategic collaborations.

3. VOL Online Shop – Commercial Growth

• Lead the commercial expansion of the VOL Online Shop, focusing on curated luxury products, exclusive collaborations, limited-edition collections, and premium brand partnerships.

• Identify and negotiate partnerships with luxury brands, designers, artisans, and manufacturers to develop unique retail offerings.

• Oversee pricing strategy, merchandising, promotions, and commercial performance while ensuring consistency with VOL's luxury positioning.

• Work closely with editorial and marketing teams to integrate commerce seamlessly into the overall content and customer experience.

4. L'Odyssee Membership & Card

• Develop and implement the commercial strategy for the L'Odyssee Membership & Card programme.

• Drive membership acquisition through direct sales, strategic partnerships, referral programmes, luxury events, and corporate relationships.

• Collaborate with marketing and Insignia's concierge teams to develop tailored membership packages, exclusive benefits, and loyalty initiatives.

• Create incentive programmes, partnership campaigns, and member engagement strategies to maximise acquisition, retention, and lifetime value.

• Represent L'Odyssee at prestigious international events, exhibitions, forums, and networking opportunities to attract new members and strategic partners.

5. Commercial Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and deliver annual revenue targets across advertising, sponsorship, e-commerce, membership sales, and strategic partnerships.

• Prepare quarterly commercial reports, forecasts, and strategic recommendations for the Board of Directors.

• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing commercial team with clearly defined KPIs and accountability.

• Work collaboratively with Insignia Group's Finance, Marketing, Operations, and Concierge teams to maximise cross-brand opportunities and ensure consistent brand messaging.

• Identify new revenue opportunities, market trends, and innovative commercial initiatives that strengthen long-term business growth.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Media, Communications, or a related discipline.

• Minimum of 8–10 years' senior commercial experience within luxury publishing, premium retail, hospitality, luxury travel, or membership-based businesses.

• Demonstrated success in luxury advertising sales, strategic partnerships, sponsorship development, and membership programme growth.

• Established network across the luxury, travel, lifestyle, fashion, art, and design industries.

• Outstanding negotiation, relationship management, and business development skills.

• Strong understanding of digital commerce, omnichannel marketing, luxury branding, and customer experience.

• Commercially astute with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong strategic planning capabilities.
